Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Staff Associate in Philosophy (1 position on tenure)

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Applicants should possess the following qualification and attributes:
  • A minimum of Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy Degree with credit, or Bachelor of Arts Humanities Degree majoring in Philosophy with credit.
  • Additionally, for post of Lecturer, candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Philosophy or related disciplines.
  • Additionally, for the post of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor, candidates must have PhD in Philosophy or related disciplines, an impressive publication list in their field of expertise, and must show evidence of initiative in research.
  • Teaching experience at a university or comparable institution, leadership skills, and evidence of creativity and community engagement will be added advantages.

Must be ready to teach in any of the following areas of Philosophy:

  1. Logic
  2. Metaphysics
  3. Epistemology
  4. Ethics (theory and applied)
  5. African Philosophy
  6. Social and Political Philosophy

Duties

  • Specific responsibilities shall include, but not limited to:
  • Teaching, setting and timely marking examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Conducting research in the area of specialization.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student projects within the Department.
  • Participating in all academic and professional activities of the Department.
  • Carrying out any duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
