Contemporary art exhibition “realities” 2016

The Fine and Performing Arts Department at Chancellor College is hosting a Contemporary Art Exhibition under the theme “REALITIES”. The exhibition is showcasing three forms of Contemporary Art namely; Conceptual Art, Realistic Art and Abstract Expressionist Art by Chancellor College’s Mike Chilemba and guest artists Steven Chanyenga and Desderio Galagade who are alumni of the Fine Art Section. The selection of 28 artworks has messages covering Malawi’s social issues such as natural resources, tourist attraction, homosexuality, family relations, famine and may others. The exhibition also acts as a teaching and learning resource mainly in Painting, Drawing, Art Appreciation and Art History in the Fine Art Section.

The event has paintings, drawings and sculptures on display and members of the general public have a chance to purchase their chosen artworks. There are plans to take the exhibition to Blantyre and thereafter to Lilongwe at a later date.
