The Department of Computer Science is one of the departments in the Faculty of Science at Chancellor College. It was established in 1980 as a Section under the Mathematics department. In 2012, Computer Science became an independent department. Until recently, it was the only department offering Computer Science in Malawi. Currently, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses to Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education Students.
Over the years, Computer Science have established different partnerships and collaborations on teaching, research, and exchange visits both at national and international levels.
In the 90’s, the department had collaborations with a number of UK institutions (University of Abertay, Dundee, IDPM, Manchester) through the British Council Link Program. Currently, the department has strong collaborations with University of Oslo, in Norway.
Local collaborations include the e-Government Department and Baobab Health Trust amongst others, through software development, consultancies and student placements.
The Department offers a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Science, and a Master of Science in Informatics programme.
