Click icon to Email Alinafe Mbendera is the Director of the ICT/E-Learning Centre at Chancellor College, University of Malawi. He obtained his B.Sc Degree (Distinction) majoring in Computer Science from the University of Malawi and acquired his M.Sc Degree (Distinction) in Applied Informatics from the University of Reading, United Kingdom. Alinafe Mbendera has several professional certifications on his resume and he continues to undertake further training in the dynamic field of ICT and Management.
Alinafe has taught several courses in computer science at Chancellor College. He has worked for several organisation including the University of Reading ICT Services, Bytech UK Ltd and Malawi Net Ltd.
As the Director dealing with technology in the University of Malawi, Alinafe strives to develop and deploy innovative systems. as the technology is normalised for the students and staff in the University, then advanced technology adoption for development shall filter through the country as the students graduate to take on meaningful employment.
Alinafe continues to conduct research and publish. His research interests are in enterprise (ICT) architecture, IT Audit, e-learning, operating systems, ICT for development, policy development and implementation. Alinafe has worked with several local and international government departments to develop their polices and strategies which are aligned to developing technologies.
During his free time Alinafe enjoys playing golf, squash and watching interesting movies. | |

Click icon to Email Patrick is currently on study leave doing Master of Science studies at the African University of Science and Technology in Abuja, Nigeria. He has been working as an Assistant Systems Engineer for the ICT Centre since February, 2010. He holds a BEd in Physics and a BSc in Computer Science both from the University of Malawi. He has been involved in wireless networking based research projects within the University of Malawi as a student which were funded by the Italian government that further offered him training twice on the same at the International Centre For Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy. Patrick enjoys web based software development. His research areas of interest are searching, usability and security. During free time he likes chatting, travelling, listening to music, watching movies/tv and doing graphic design. | |

Click icon to Email Allan, currently studying for a Masters in Computer Science degree at African University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Abuja, Nigeria, is an Assistant Systems Engineer at the ICT/E-Learning Centre at Chancellor College, University of Malawi. A graduate from University of Malawi, The Polytechnic (2008) with a DISTINCTION in Information Technology, he also holds a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Information Processing (City & Guilds). Before joining Chancellor College, Allan worked with a few local and international organisations. He joined Chancellor College ICT/E-Learning Centre In March 2010. His career goal is to become a Database Administrator and he is also much interested in computer programming and UNIX/Linux systems administration.
In March 2011, Allan attended a regional training of the Pan African eNetwork Project (http://cc.ac.mw/elearning/) focusing on the implementation and maintenance of the e-Learning program in New Delhi, India. He also attended a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Maintenance training in October, 2011 at LGIT Solutions, Sandton, South Africa.
With his programming expertise, Allan has developed several web based and computer based applications in PHP and Visual Basic. He also has practical knowledge of C, C++, JAVA, Javascript and SQL languages. Allan is also conversant with UNIX/Linux shell scripting and has a vast experience in MySQL database administration. He enjoys programming, arguing, travelling, playing and watching soccer (Arsenal) during his free time. | |

Click icon to Email Walusungu joined Chancellor College ICT/E-Learning Centre as an Assistant Systems Engineer in February 2010. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Statistics (minor), which he earned with distinction in 2008 from Chancellor College of the University of Malawi. He has also acquired additional training in Unix, networking, Internet Governance and ICT Strategy and Policy development. Internationally, he takes part in Internet resource policy development at the African Network Information Center (AfriNIC) and Internet Cooperation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) (http://icannwiki.com/index.php/Walusungu_Gondwe). He joined these two international organisation as a fellow in mid 2011. He has also lectured a number of courses at Chancellor College including Computer Networks. His interests include Unix systems administration, DNS, routing, network programming and ICT4D. His career goal is to become a multi-faceted network engineer and help Malawi seal the digital divide on both the national and international level. As the Systems Administrator (SA), Emmanuel is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure at Chancellor College.
He is interested in Computer Network Management and Internet Security. And has, from time to time, supported some organizations in Zomba like Dignitas International, MANEB, SAFE, and Malawi Prison Services on network management related problems. | |
